Colour Schemes
Getting the correct balance of colour on your website is critical. Too much colour can be overpowering, while too little colour can be plain and boring for some visitors. At the same time, having colours that don't go together is also website suicide.
Getting colour schemes right is not something that everyone can do, and get great results with. But with my many years of experience playing with different styles, colours, tones and textures, I have been able to create great websites, that not only look the part, but also make your website appealing to your potential customers.

Consistent & Creative
Believe me when I say I've been on some websites where you leave the main opening page and then get completely lost, without any clue has how to get back to the opening page. This can be very misleading and confusing for many people. Thats why its good Web Design practice to uphold a consistent website, making sure that visitors don't get completely lost. With some websites that are quite large in size, it can become difficult to not get your visitors lost, but with good planning and website management, the consistent issue can be overcome.
But being consistent with some websites can become a little bit dull, thats why its okay to be creative and consistent. Over the years I have gained a good understanding of how far you can bend the consistent ruler with creativeness without it breaking. And I try to implement a creative consistent approach for all the websites I construct.

Rich Content
Having very little content on your website does not mean that your website cannot be a success. Its all about how the website is created, using the content that is currently available and also considering the future content that may come.
But having a website that is completely swamped with content also does not mean the website will be a great success either. Again its all about how the content is used and how the website construction is planned by the web designer.
Obviously the more information you have on a website will help to keep your visitors interested and staying online, but will having Rich content on your website really get the results you are after... This is why I listen to your requirements and future requirements and also take note of the content why you wish to use, then I will advise you on the best course of action, so that you can get the best results from your website.

Texture
Texture is everywhere and it plays a significant role in all of our lives. Take a simple house brick. Its got plenty of texture. Now try to imagine a simple brown brick with no texture. Very plain and simple. Also take wood, wood has so much texture and shows so much going on, would it be the same if wood was just brown with no texture just like a simple shiny surface.
This is why just using straight colours on some websites doesn't work. Adding textures to colour on websites can make such a difference, even if its a simple lighting gradient effect. It still makes your website look and feel much more appealing.

Animation
A website that is plain and simple without any animation is okay. But a website with some animation like Flash or DHTML is much more appealing. It makes your website come more alive.
Over animation can be slow to load and also very off putting to your potential customers.

Search Engine friendly
Having the most fabulous website in the world doesn't mean that your going to have the most popular website in the world.
If your potential customers have never heard of you, then how are they going to find your website? Thats where Search engines come in quite usefull. With Search engines you can get your website listed and start to reap the rewards on getting your search keywords and keyphrases high into the search listings. And that will really make your website a valuable asset to own.
A major problem with some web designers, is they can make great looking websites, but the websites don't get good enough results in search engines, while other web designers create bad looking websites, yet manage to get good results in the search engines... How can this be possible? Well, search engines are computers and they only see code and file names, text and keywords. Thus, some web designers create amazing websites, but have no choice but to sacrifice the search engine good results in favour of a good looking website. While the websites that look not so appealing are created so basically that they gain more on search results. So the more complicated a website becomes, the harder it is to get good results.
Everyone wants a really good looking website that brings in good search results, and thats where professional experienced web design is required.
